What is water use efficiency?

Water use efficiency (WUE) describes the efficiency of the plant in using the available water to grow and reproduce (e.g., in photosynthesis). WUE is directly linked with yield, and as a result, we can define WUE as the yield produced per water unit used.

There are many strategies a farmer can apply to improve Water Use Efficiency (more information in the Water conservation module).
