What is agroecology?

Agroecology is an integrated practice that focuses on the interactions between plants, animals, the environment, and the community (farmers). Agroecological systems have a high diversity. The practices are adapted to the different needs and locations and are a combination of scientific facts and local knowledge (knowledge sharing and inclusion are important elements).

Diversity, efficiency, resilience and recycling are also among the key elements of agroecology.

Common practices applied are intercropping, crop rotation, mixed farming, agroforestry etc.
