PDO (Protected Designation of Origin)

To receive a PDO certificate, a product (e.g. olive oil, cheese) must be cultivated-produced, extracted, and bottled in a PDO-awarded region. An area can be awarded with a PDO certification when the specific product produced within its limits has outstanding and distinct characteristics from those in other “non awarded” regions.
