How a new Arabic app is transforming herd health and farm profitability

Meeting the Needs of Modern Livestock Farming in the GCC

As a livestock veterinarian and livestock economics specialist, I've always believed in using simple, smart tools to improve animal health, productivity, and farm profitability. That's why I was genuinely excited to take part in the onboarding process for the new Arabic-language livestock app developed by Greener Herd. This powerful tool is designed specifically for livestock farmers in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) and the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). It speaks our language and understands our challenges.

Hands-on onboarding: Introducing farmers to digital herd management

Being part of the onboarding phase gave me the chance to work directly with UAE livestock farmers and help them get started with the app. I visited several farms, conducted farm assessments, and explained to livestock owners how to use the app to track their animals, plan feeding programs, and store medical records. Many of these farmers were excited to finally have a digital tool in Arabic, which made it much easier for them to interact with and understand the value of every feature.

A shift from memory to data-driven decisions

One of the key things I noticed during onboarding was how much the app helped farmers stay organized. Most of them used to rely on memory or scattered notebooks. Now, with this livestock tracking app, all data—from vaccination dates and breeding cycles to feed schedules and medication records—is stored and accessible in a clean, user-friendly format.

Supporting animal health with integrated diagnostics

As part of the onboarding and support work, I also conducted blood analyses for some of the client herds. This helped evaluate the general health status of livestock and detect any hidden issues like mineral deficiencies, infections, or reproductive imbalances. With the app, we were able to log the lab results and track treatments effectively. The combination of clinical data and app features gave farmers a clearer picture of their herd’s health, helping them make better, faster decisions.

Optimizing feed and reducing costs

The app’s feed optimization feature is also a game-changer. Feed costs in livestock farming are among the highest expenses, and many farmers in our region still use traditional, experience-based methods. With the app, they now have a tool that calculates feed requirements per animal based on weight, purpose, and age. That saves money and improves animal growth and production efficiency.

Tracking Sustainability for a Smarter Future

Another benefit I personally appreciate is the app’s sustainability tracking. It helps monitor methane emissions, water use, and feed conversion ratios, supporting environmental goals and giving GCC farmers actionable data to improve efficiency. These tools prepare us for the future, especially as governments and international buyers require such information.

A solution built for local contexts

To me, this app isn't just a piece of technology—it's a solution designed for our context. It supports herd management, veterinary health tracking, agricultural business decisions, and sustainability reporting—all in Arabic.

I’m proud to have been part of the team that brought this tool to life on the ground. If you're working in livestock production in the UAE or GCC, I truly recommend giving it a try. It’s a step forward for both animal care and smart farming practices.
