Stella N. Simiyu Wafukho is Chief Executive Officer of CropLife Africa Middle East (CLAME), the regional association representing the plant science industry through more than 22 national associations across Africa and the Middle East. With over two decades of experience in regulatory affairs, agricultural policy, and multi-stakeholder engagement, she works to advance science-based, risk-proportionate regulatory frameworks for crop protection products, including biological and biopesticide solutions. She is a co-designer of the BioCOPPA Index, which tracks regulatory, institutional, and adoption progress for biological crop protection products across the region, and a co-author of peer-reviewed research published in Frontiers (2025). She has served as Co-Chair at the United Nations Environment Assembly and led AfCFTA Sanitary and Phytosanitary training engagements across Africa. She holds a postgraduate qualification in Biosafety in Plant Biotechnology from Ghent University and is a PhD candidate in Agricultural Systems at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Italy, researching the development and commercialization of biological crop protection products in Africa.
