Mukiibi Sowedi Kwamira is a 50-year-old small-scale fruit and spice grower from Butaaka village, Kibibi, Butambala District in Uganda. He holds an advanced certificate and founded the Uganda Fruits and Spice Growers Association. Recognizing the untapped potential of spice farming in East Africa, Mukiibi advocates for local spice cultivation to reduce import dependency and boost socioeconomic development. Despite limited access to quality planting material, he cultivates cardamom, cinnamon, rosemary, and black pepper, and works to raise awareness about Uganda's favorable climate and soils for spice production.
