His work combines large-scale soil databases, soil health indices adapted to Brazilian production systems, and advanced techniques such as synchrotron X-ray microtomography and artificial intelligence to assess carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus dynamics. He holds a Dr. rer. nat. in Earth System Sciences from the Universität Hamburg, an MSc from CENA/USP, and an Agronomy degree from ESALQ/USP, with research experience spanning tropical agriculture and Arctic carbon dynamics. He was also an expert reviewer for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report Synthesis.
