The main goal of the the FORECAST project is to deliver new sustainable solutions for the revitalization of agroforestry systems in the Mediterranean region. This innovative strategy is based on the use of highly resilient, locally-adapted orphan legumes and dedicated seed technology into existing agroforestry systems, addressing a range of different socioeconomic and pedoclimatic conditions across the Mediterranean Area. In this context, precision farming techniques are integrated with traditional practices. The FORECAST strategy will allow to overcome barriers to adoption nd scaling-up of the new deployed agroforestry practices. A multi-actor approach is used to ensure that the real requirements of stakeholders and end-users are accomplished, allowing their active involvement in co-creating opportunities and technical solutions to needs and challenges, with focus on women empowerment in agroforestry.
