Dr. Saurav Das is the Director of the Farming Systems Trial (FST) at the Rodale Institute in Pennsylvania, leading one of the longest-running comparative research projects in the United States on organic and conventional farming systems, established in 1981. His work focuses on soil health, soil carbon and nitrogen dynamics, water quality, and the long-term agronomic, economic, and environmental impacts of regenerative organic agriculture. He holds a PhD in Microbiology from Assam Agricultural University and has previously served as Research Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he developed methods for soil health benchmarking and optimized nitrogen management for improved yield and sustainability. He is also the author of the widely followed R for Soil Science and Muddy Monday newsletters, where he shares data science tools and insights for soil and agricultural research.
