About
Dr. Shahinoor Rahman is an entomologist and chemical ecologist and has 10+ years of demonstrated teaching & research, project management, multicultural student/technician & employee supervision, consulting-coordination-communication, and an impressive level of knowledge and proficiency in agricultural crop protection. His ability to monitor and assess insects, pests, diseases, and viruses is unparalleled. Through in-depth research and investigation, Dr. Shahinoor has gained a deep understanding of molecular and phytochemical mechanisms, employing advanced techniques like metabolomics, volatilomics, and hormone analysis. As a result, he has developed highly effective strategies for biological, chemical, and integrated pest management (IPM). Dr. Shahinoor's expertise also extends to smart and digital farming solutions, where he applies modern biocontrol pest management strategies. He completed many strategic projects related to crop protection. His current postdoctoral research focuses on understanding the mechanism of resistance of sugar beet to the plant hopper causing SBR disease; Long-term (over 40 years) Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) effects on Aphid-Virus yellows on sugar beet, and his doctoral research focused on how drought and soil salinity effects on aphids, beet leaf miners/flies, their parasitoids, and their chemical ecological interactions in sugar beet at the Agricultural Entomology department of the University of Goettingen, Germany.
