About
RECROP (Reproductive Enhancement of CROP resilience to extreme climate) is a pan-European COST Action network (CA22157) running from 2023 to 2027 that brings together more than 400 researchers and stakeholders from across Europe and beyond, representing a highly multidisciplinary community. With members’ expertise ranging from molecular biology, genetics, plant physiology, phenotyping, artificial intelligence, and bioinformatics to agronomy, RECROP aims to understand how extreme abiotic stresses such as heat, drought, flooding, and cold affect plant reproduction and crop yield. The network focuses on developing innovative and sustainable strategies to improve the resilience of major grain and horticultural crops, including wheat, maize, rice, barley, and tomato, through advanced breeding, biotechnology, CRISPR approaches, biostimulants, and integrated data-driven research. RECROP also strongly supports training, interdisciplinary collaboration, young researcher development, and science-policy communication to help build climate-proof agriculture and strengthen global food security.
