About
Olayemi Ojeokun is a master’s student and a Graduate Research Assistant in the Dept. of Horticulture and Natural Resources, at Kansas State University. She majors in Turfgrass science and management. Her research focuses on investigating the management of Zoysia grass, a warm season turfgrass, and sod production by evaluating different genotypes of zoysiagrass and thatch accumulation. She is experienced in greenhouse and laboratory experiments; she is also a licensed pesticide applicator. Olayemi is a self-driven agronomist, her interest covers but is not limited to precision agriculture, plant and soil science, plant genetics, and breeding, plant pathology, and golf course management. She also has an interest in environmental sustainability, waste management, and circular economy. She is open to collaborating with government and non-governmental organizations, agricultural industries, golf courses, and sod companies. As a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion advocate, she is open to volunteering and getting involved in DEI sectors. Olayemi is passionate and dedicated to high-quality education and community development, especially for children, she is a volunteer and an advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equity. Her primary objective is to keep building capacity in key areas of interest through learning and on-the-job experiences while causing positive disruptions along the way to becoming a professional. She likes challenges and passionately seeks learning opportunities. She is open to networking and connecting with new friends from different sectors in different parts of the world.
