Jesus Antonio Quintana is a seasoned global development expert with over three decades of experience in sustainable agriculture, food systems, biodiversity conservation and forestry management. He has a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions to complex challenges, particularly in areas such as climate change, landscape restoration, and natural resource management. Throughout his career, Jesús has held leadership positions at renowned international organizations, including United Nations and the CGIAR. During his 30-year long career, he was Director General of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT); Managing Director for the Americas for the Alliance Bioversity-CIAT in Colombia; Head of the South America Office of the International Fund for Tropical Agriculture (IFAD); Country Representative in Peru for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO); Country Director for international NGOs in Bolivia, Colombia, Mozambique and Peru, and Program Manager/Expert in Italy, the Philippines, Paraguay, Guatemala and Spain, among other destinations and posts. Jesus was born in Malaga (Spain) and holds a degree in Forestry Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, a degree in Sociology from UNED in Spain, and a Master's degree in Environment and Development from the University of Reading (UK). His academic background, coupled with his practical experience, equips him to address the multifaceted challenges facing global food systems and environmental management.
