Alperen Öztürk is a Turkish plant biotechnologist working on CRISPR technology and its potential applications in agriculture. He holds a BSc degree from Nigde Omer Halisdemir University in Turkey and is currently pursuing his MSc degree at Niigata University as a Japanese Government Scholar. Alperen has played an active leadership role in international organisations such as IAAS World, SIVB and NGIN in various positions. He is very interested in youth organisations and professional youth cooperation. He is also interested in science communication and currently co-leads a Sci-Comm group called Science2Seed. He has attended many international conferences and represents youth on as many platforms as possible. He is aware that doing useful science is not enough unless it is accepted and consumed by society. He defines engagement in science and positive communication as the key to increased food security.
