Waterlogging is the ground’s condition of complete saturation with water and the disappearance of the gaseous phase. The saturation of the soil depends on its granule composition, its depth, the compression it has undergone, and the intensity of the rain.
The development of anaerobic conditions causes damage to the roots, as they need the oxygen of the gas phase for their respiration. The roots and the entire plant are at risk of death if saturation persists. The adverse condition of excess water favors the development of diseases in the crops.
