In Terrace farming, the farmer uses terraces or steps (nearly leveled platforms) created into the slopes of hills or mountainous areas to facilitate the easier vertical growth of the plants (from rice to olive tree crops). In this way, the farmer improves water retention, decreases soil erosion, water, and nutrient runoffs and facilitates agricultural practices (like mechanical harvest and weeding).
