Biodynamic farming is a philosophy according to, which humans should treat farmland as a living system and not a factory. The biodynamic philosophy has been criticized for containing no-scientific theories and methods. However, it was one of the first approaches to organic farming and incorporated practices for sustainable farming.

According to Biodynamics, the lunar phases have a central role in farming jobs such as sawing, pruning, and harvesting. Soil is treated with manure and recycled matter, as synthetic fertilizers are banned. Farmers control weeds by planting timing and spreading mulch. Finally, farmers following this practice take care of biodiversity, keeping wetlands, tree fences, bee-friendly plants, etc.
