The agroecosystem is the ecological system modified by humans to produce agricultural products like food and fibers.
It is a partially closed state containing livestock animals, plants, weeds, and microbial life.
Agroecosystems are dependent on abiotic factors such as temperature, human inputs, soil health, and water.
An important, desirable characteristic of an agroecosystem is biodiversity (many organisms coexist in an area). It has been proven that by sustaining healthy agroecosystems, the production and the quality of the products increase, and the system is more resilient to abiotic and biotic stresses.
