The extra virgin olive oil «ASOPOS», the natural juice of the olive tree fruit, is produced exclusively by the «Athinolia» and «Koroneiki» varieties, which are cultivated solely in Asopos Groves in the municipality of Monemvasia in certified and controlled arable land. This product constitutes a Protected Geographical Indication product of Lakonia «PGI Lakonia». The olives are collected and processed by the Agricultural Cooperation of Asopos and the Olive oil formulated in exceptional conditions as it is confirmed by the quality certificates that accompany our products.
The term “Protected Geographical Indication “ for our olive oil indicates that it is cultivated, produced and processed to meet certain specifications especially:
-Olive tree variety: “Koroneiki” & “Athinoelia”.
-Preventive spraying to combat olive fruit fly under the supervision of an agriculturist.
-Harvest of olive tree fruit and transportation in specials buckets.
-Two phase olive mill (eco friendly)
-Crush of the olive tree fruit within 24 hours after harvest
-Cold extraction < 27 C.
-Storing in stainless steel tanks, at a temperature of 18 ,and in an inert atmosphere
with the use of nitrogen gas.
-Evaluation of the product with the use of sensory methods
-Laboratory product analysis
To achieve the desired quality we implement the AGRO 2.1 & 2.2-3 integrated production management system for the proper use of fertilizers and pesticides, while the bottling is done according to the international recognized standards of ISO 22000:2005 , 22005:2007 & IFS FOOD 6.1.
