Profile
Our Family
Ferdinando and Nicola Carbone, in Laureana di Borrello, have been cultivating more than 60 hectares of olive groves created and managed first by grandfather Nicola and then by father Pasquale, in the fertile locality of "Piani Marzano" since 1950.
The immense "olive wood", with its grandiose vegetal patriarchs, characterises the landscape of Reggio Calabria at the foot of Aspromonte. It overlooks the Gioia Tauro Plain and is home to both traditional and native cultivars such as Ottobratica, Sinopolese, Roggianella, Nocellara, Tombarello and Ciciarello. The Carbone farm stands on an ancient rural village among the centuries-old olive groves of Ottobratica, Tombarello, Ciciarello and the more recent ones with Coroneiki and Nocellare varieties.
Varieties from which important extra-virgin olive oils are obtained, thanks to the commitment of knowledgeable and innovative farms that carefully produce, store and bottle top of the range oil, including organic and with certified traceability.
Nicola is the expert olive grower who, with great competence and professionalism, takes care of the agronomic aspect and manages the agricultural activity with respect for the environment and guaranteed quality. Ferdinando takes care of the management of the fruit, its transformation, good preservation and bottling, as well as marketing and commercialisation. Both aim at high quality production by investing resources and energies, continuously comparing notes and relying on qualified technicians.
Our olive groves
The Società Agricola Carbone extends over a total area of about 60 hectares of agricultural land
of agricultural land, all located in the municipality of Laureana di Borrello (RC) at Torre Campomalo. On a large part of the land, about 20 hectares, the cultivations of our company have recently been affected by a series of restructuring interventions. The new olive trees are in full production and have integrated perfectly with the rest of the vegetation. The farm has a series of equipment and machinery, used for growing and harvesting olives, adequate means to best meet the increasingly selective demand from an increasingly demanding and strongly characterised market. In the short/medium term, following the restoration of the physiological and productive efficiency of the trees, which are continually pruned for reform/restructuring and rejuvenation, production levels will vary quantitatively. In the medium/long term, on the other hand, thanks to further rationalisation of cultivation, which will be focused on a series of actions of breeding pruning, production pruning, irrigation and targeted fertilisation, the phenomenon of alternating olive production will tend to be eliminated and there will be a constant annual production instead of a cyclical alternating annual production.
Farm quality and production innovation in the wake of tradition are also maintained for the extraction and bottling of oil with the latest generation systems, with the use of renewable energy and the elimination of oil effluents in full respect of the environment; milling on the day of harvesting, cold pressing with low water consumption, bottling also in a controlled atmosphere. This makes it possible to preserve the nutraceutical components of the oil with particular reference to polyphenols. All with a controlled traceability system to guarantee the consumer. This is the origin of the 'quality triptych', that of the Carbone company's original cultivations, which is also enjoying success outside the national borders.
Our products are perfect fit for Pastry shops, Catering and Pizzerias
