Partnership between Wikifarmer and The Federal University of Lavras (UFLA)

Wikifarmer is always interested in building partnerships with organizations, universities, institutions, and projects worldwide. Our main goal is to democratize agriculture; we believe networking can help us achieve this. Wikifarmer and The Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) are working together to promote agricultural studies. For over a century, The Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) has portrayed a diverse network of people who interact with each other in an attempt to generate knowledge, innovation and societal development. Thus, UFLA is proud of its striking path, which has ensured it an outstanding position in the national scenario. UFLA’s 500 hectare campus draws the visitors’ attention due to its modern infrastructure, embracing its 18 educational and scientific departments, more than 150 classrooms and 250 thematic laboratories fully equipped to ensure the student’s progress to cross the knowledge boundaries. Featured in the environmental field, UFLA develops programs that have been models for the entire state such as the Chemical Waste Management Plan for laboratories, the collected rainwater system, the structuring of its watersheds, the planting of 50,000 seedlings of 53 native and fruit species and UFLA Recycle campaign, which traded plastic cups for reusable mugs. All this commitment has ensured UFLA the first position among all Brazilian universities that competed in the Green Metric 2012 ranking, elaborated by the Universitas Indonesia (UI) in order to highlight the efforts in sustainability and environmental management in the campus of universities worldwide.
