Agrifood System Solutions are Climate Solutions FAO side event at the Italian Pavilion

December 12, 2023 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Agrifood System Solutions

With the biggest climate change conference in the world, COP28, around the corner, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is releasing a series of informative interviews with experts from various fields.

Climate in the Hot Seat: Agrifood System Solutions are Climate Solutions explores concrete climate actions that can be found in our agriculture and food systems, and showcases the powerful results these solutions have on the ground.  Spanning sustainable crop and livestock production, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, land, water and soil, agrifood system solutions support resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon sequestration and ensure food security.

The interviews also highlight how FAO innovates and supports countries to deliver these solutions. Enabling policies and adequate institutional and regulatory frameworks; science-based interventions; inclusion of youth, women and Indigenous Peoples; cross-sectoral collaboration; and access to better climate finance are all necessary to achieve more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.

The event will be held on Tuesday, 12 December, at 11:30 GST at the Italian Pavilion. The webinar is open to all, and you are encouraged to share the invitation with interested networks (such as Linkedin, Twitter, and Facebook), from 11:30 until 1:00 GST, 12 December 2023.

Agrifood systems solutions are climate solutions

This round table between political, technical and youth representatives showcases on-going actions to support the implementation of climate actions at global, national and local level.

Concept Note:

Accelerating climate action in agrifood systems needs a crosscutting and holistic approach for increasing knowledge on technical agrifood practices, especially for young people, and enabling environment political capacity building. An informal round table between political, technical, and youth representatives will showcase ongoing actions to pledge support for implementing climate actions at the global, national, and local levels through investing in agrifood systems transformations to increase resilience and accelerate climate actions.
