Partnership between Wikifarmer and GENDER platform of CGIAR
Wikifarmer is always interested in building partnerships with organizations, universities, institutions, and projects worldwide. Our main goal is to democratize agriculture; we believe networking can help us achieve this. Wikifarmer and GENDER impact platform are working together to help the agricultural sector.
GENDER (Generating Evidence and New Directions for Equitable Results) is a CGIAR impact platform that synthesizes and amplifies research, fills gaps, builds capacity and sets directions to enable CGIAR to have maximum impact on gender equality, opportunities for youth and social inclusion in agriculture and food systems. Our work enables women, youth and other groups involved in agriculture and food systems across Africa, Asia and Latin America to be agents of change. With more influence and greater access to, and control over, resources, these change makers can make food and agricultural systems sustainable, resilient and equitable. We envision greater social and gender equality driving food systems to become more productive, sustainable, resilient and equitable.
GENDER platform strengthens the performance of gender and social science research by providing the highest standards and setting strategic directions for current and future research efforts. This guidance enables CGIAR and its partners to conduct cutting-edge gender and social science research as well as to develop and scale innovations that advance gender equality, opportunities for youth and social inclusion. The platform also conducts independent, strategic research, across CGIAR science groups and research initiatives, to widen and deepen CGIAR’s impacts on gender equality, opportunities for youth and social inclusion.
GENDER is led by its impact platform office hosted by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and organizes its work in three interlinking modules: Evidence, Methods and Alliances. This partnership is with the Evidence Module, led by International Rice Research Institute (IRRI).
Evidence module aims to build an innovative evidence base that supports the transformation of food systems and promotes gender-equitable development outcomes by co-creating, consolidating, and sharing robust evidence on emerging issues and data gaps related to gender inequalities in agricultural and food systems. It works on identifying, synthesizing, and communicating evidence to various stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and investors, to facilitate the design of pathways for equitable food systems transformation. Through partnerships with researchers, academia, and other stakeholders, the module commissions strategic research to address priority research gaps and influence policy and investment priorities.
