Martín is a third-generation coffee grower whose family has been cultivating Arabica coffee on the slopes of the Sierra Madre in Guatemala since the 1940s. He holds a BA in Drama and Creative Writing from The Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK and has extensive experience as a theater producer in Mexico City. In late 2018, he returned to Guatemala to take over his family farm with the aim of restoring it after the Coffee Leaf Rust disease devastated coffee plantations in Latin America between 2012 and 2014. With a core focus on agroforestry, and keeping a balanced ecosystem around his coffee trees, Martín is dedicated to learning the art of growing Coffea Arabica, combining the knowledge of his ancestors with modern practices to maintain a responsible and culturally controlled farming approach.
